Bog meadows

Approximatley 3km of "access for all" paths wind their way through a mosaic of reedbeds,wet meadows, ponds, woodlands, streams and hedgerows. This is an ideal spot for bird watchers be they novice or dedicated enthusiast.

Terrain

Concrete or quarry dust paths, level throughout the reserve.

Point of Interest

Lake and islands, grazed lowland meadows, reedmace marsh, information panels, public art.

Route Description

You will start from the car park at the bottom of Milltown Row, off the Falls Road. The path network meanders through the reserve over bridges and past fenced fields and hedgerows. All paths lead back to the car park, however, you can also take a path into Milltown Cemetery.

Getting to the Start

The entrance to Bog Meadows is on Milltown Row, off the Falls Road and just opposite Falls Park. There are regular buses from Belfast city centre. The entrance to the reserve is signposted and a car park is available at the bottom of Milltown Row, by St. Galls GAA pitch.

There are no on site facilities except for carparking.

Information for People with a Disability

This route does not have accessible toilet facilities.

While all paths are level some are narrow and bounded by hedges. There are a number of narrow bridges and areas of open water with no fixed physical boundry.
