Cycle to School

Currently the NI Roads Service and Sustrans (the charity behind the NCN) are working with a number of schools across the province to provide travel plans for children.  This includes cycling as a means of getting to school.  If you would like your child to benefit from this why not write to your child’s head teacher to see if they have a travel plan?  Cycling can bring so many benefits for your child –its well worth considering.

Freedom & Independence for your Kids –and you!

It’s a fact that 45% of school children in the UK would prefer to cycle to school than be driven! This is great news all round –as it teaches your kids to be independent, and frees up the time you would normally spend doing the ‘school run’.

Active Kids are more Healthy, Fit, and Alert!

By cycling to and from school your child will benefit from reduced risk of diabetes and heart disease.  It also helps weight-control, enhances well-being and improves concentration levels in class.

Clearer Roads and Less Traffic-jams!

If the ‘school run’ disappeared our roads would be 20% lighter during the morning rush hour –so when you are driving to work or the shops, cycling kids means shorter car journey times.
