Follow an 18 mile section of NCN 93 as it winds its way north from Park Village in the Sperrin foothills through the Roe Valley countryside and uplands, on to Roe Valley Country Park and Limavady town.

Route Description

Set off from the centre of Park Village at the junction of Altinure Road and Learmount Road. Turn left and carefully continue along Altinure Road with the River Faughan below you to the left. After 2 miles turn left onto Clagan Road and keep going ignoring all turnoffs to come to a staggered junction with the B74 Glenshane Road.

Cross the road heading north east along the Kilcul Road for a mile turning right at a cross roads onto Letterlogher Road for a short distance turning left onto Ballyhanedin Road. Head north along this road for 1 mile then turn right onto Altagarran Road which leads to the village of Foreglen. Look to the north from this road to get views over the A6 and the wind turbines at Altahullion.

At Foreglen turn right at the T junction with a shop and post office to your right past O'Brien's GAC grounds to meet the A6 Foreglen Road. Taking great care on this busy section of road turn left for 100 metres to the cross the road and continue along the Altmover Road. A gradual climb along this road for 1 1/2 miles to turn left onto Drum Road/Polly's Brae Road as you head north on NCN 93 for 2 1/2 miles to crossroads with Bovevagh Road. If you wish turn left to visit Altahullion wind farm and get up close and personal with a turbine. This is a slow steady climb of about a mile to the car park.

If the view from the road is sufficient, continue along Polly's Brae Road for 3 miles as the Roe Valley and Lough Foyle opens up in front of you. Enjoy the view as you descend along the road to Largy Pillars at the entrance to the old Largy Primary School at the junction of Drumrane Road (B192). Turn left and then immediately right onto Largy Road which winds to the junction with Dogleap Road. Another right turn will take you down to the main car park of Roe Valley Country Park, a good place to stop and explore.

Back in the saddle and continue with care over Largy Bridge over the River Roe and the short steep climb to meet the Ballyquin Road (B68). Turn left and follow the cycle path as it descends towards Limavady town.

On entering Limavady Town follow the signs for NCN route 93. At a Y junction turn right onto Scroggy Road using the on road cycle lane and then turn left at Central Primary School onto the traffic free path fr a short distance past Roe Valley Leisure Centre. Use the traffic lights on Greystone Road cross to pick up the cycle lane leading to the old Roe Valley Hospital/ Limavady Workhouse. Here the route follows a traffic free cycle path through Back Burn Park to finish opposite Limavady bus station.

Getting to the Start

Park village is located on the NCN Route 93.

Park can be accessed from teh B49 and B74 from Claudy and from the B44 from Feeny.

There are some bus services. Please check with Translink for details.
